You'll notice in my sig pic that I still have stock wires on my Fat Bob. I think for the most part it's a cosmetic/looks thing. It's all about making it look the way you want... some colored ones look pretty cool...

Cosmetics is the only reason I changed mine. Red Screamin Eagle. I noticed no power change at all. I used the stock plug in wire holders from the handlebars. trimmed down the tab a bit and they hold great in the stock holes on the horn bracket.

Cosmetics. The SE are fatter and have colors and since it is a pull and plug proceedure it's an easy and cheap mod.

You don't... it's pure BS.... just like all the different electrode combinations of spark plugs. However you do have to be careful which wires you put back on. SE wires for your year bike is fine, but aftermarket wires may not allow the anti-knock system to work properly. I currently have Accel wires on mine, but the set I bought specifically said compatible with the Delphi ECM, and I have not had any problems.

... oh, and they are blue.

I put the orange Se wires on mine. It was easy as mentioned above. I did it for a splash of color. I only gained about 10 hp....LOL I kid.. I noticed no difference in power.

That's because I heard the red ones offer the +10hp, not the orange.

All kidding aside - you can get "some" gain w/right wire material/design...take a look.

Unless you plan to drag race the bike - most wiring swaps are purely cosmetic. Stock wires work fine for most...
