"I seem to recall folks saying that the 09's were when they started putting the cats in. Did you have the cat removed out of yours?"
Hey, Grog,
Not sure when the MoCo started using cats in the exhaust ('010?), but for sure the header I picked up, which was advertised as a take-off from an '09 FB, didn't have a cat, and it was completely unmolested/unmodified.

I guess it might go with the state or country it was delievried, my bike is a 2010 and I looked on e bay for weeks and most of the headers I founded had a cat in it. Most of them being 09 takeoff
Has anyone removed their mufflers and then just drilled into the cat? If you have, what can be expected as far as drilling into the cat material? Is it a soft? Is this a good idea to try........
An alternative to beating up your stock header pipe to eliminate the cat is to purchase a pre-owned take-off from an earlier year F-Bob. I found an '09 "open" header on ebay that was a direct fit for my '010 F-Bob. A big plus is I still have the stocker in case CA ever mandates annual smog checks for bikes. Good luck with your project.
