I just installed the night rider IXED on my 06 WG and rode it to work tonight. It does seem to have more power and run cleaner but my CEL comes on at idle. I was told by a very kowledgable tuner our bikes run in closed loop so the IXED were fine for a aircleaner and exhaust upgrade.
I fitted mine today to my 06 fxdwg , i was already aware of the CEL coming on at idle, but havent started mine yet as as im waiting for my Chrome SE air cleaner setup to arrive from america.
If all you are just installing a free flowing air cleaner and a set of pipes or slip ons, they are the cheapest and in my opinion, best alternative to adding a tuner, piggy back or one that flashes the ECM.
Ive had them on my scoot, and they work as advertised. If I didnt have a need to constantly screw with stuff....they would still be on my bike....they are currently making the rounds on my friends new bikes.........They work, Ive used them, decide whats best for you....
We all can't be wrong, the Xieds work.
I installed with slip-ons 1.75 baffels and the K+N filter only not the back plate.
I can always go to a tuner later but buying the bike new I wanted something that I could just unplug if I had problems.
You guys have talked me into it! Xieds it is for my 11 FXDC... I've read enough about them over the past few months, today I'm calling to order.
I am also canceling my 7/1/11 appt with the dealer for tuner and dyno, I just have VH BR 2into2, and SE Stage I AC. They quoted $459 for the tuner, (must not be the orange SE tuner in the catalog, it is $335 if I recall) and $280 for the dyno. eFFe that!
For me it wasn't about increasing power , it was always about getting rid of the football AC cover and as i already have SE slipons, i didnt want it running too lean
today my chrome screamin eagle AC turned up from America, that's what was missing from my above post
i like it naked as above , but for wet weather (its winter here)
I ran XIEDS for a thousand miles or so on my 2009. They do work in that the bike ran cooler and richer, but also took 10% hit in mpg. I'd still be running them and be happy, but they did not get rid of the annoying lean surge I was dealing with. I went to a TTS tuning kit to get rid of the surge, and the performance and drivability increase over the XIEDs were dramatic. A decent customized tune livens up the bike over all its operating ranges. XIEDs cannot compensate for mismatched VEs and that is what you get by playing with exhaust and air filters. The XIEDs do help cover up the problem and do improve the AFR allowing you to ride more comfortably. There is nothing wrong with adding style and sound and just riding with smiles but, if you desire performance or a fine running machine, find a good tuning pro or get yourself a tuning kit and tune yourself. The riding enjoyment difference is significant.
Borisat, Nice. How about straight on photo and info on that a/c cover.
My Xieds, Fuel Moto a/c kit and Rush long series pipes w/ no cats work well and sound great.

I do believe the above statement. But for a few of us, it's a temporarily fix til I save enough money to get a good tuner. My thoughts are it will help the bike from running too lean with a exhaust and air-cleaner which I already have.
