Default Neutral light and speedometer quit

Ok I recently bought my bike from a local dealer, they told me the neutral light didn't work, that they had the part on back order to fix it. After a few miles down the road I noticed the speedometer wasn't working. I went back to the dealer, they said, yeah we know it don't work due to the neutral light part. Called today and said it was still on backorder. All this pretty weather I am starting to get frustrated not being able to ride. Anyone have a clue as to what it could be. There was two wires unplugged right below the battery. I hooked them up, but nothing. Dealer said they was unhooked until they could get the part in. What does the wires go to?

Most likely the neutral switch that is located on the top side of the transmission next to the fill plug.

Did the dealer actually think you were going to ride it after you purchased a bike with faulty equipment? Are they willing to pickup the speeding tickets? Pretty interesting that both parts that pickup signals from the transmission crapped out at the sametime. Just for grins pull the speedo sending unit, clean the pickup end (might have something on it) reinstall and try it. Also clean the contacts on the neutral switch and associated contacts at the connection. Make the connection under the seat. Then try things out, who knows it might help you out.
