Default Tranny dipstick broke

Hey fellas. Well, yesterday I dropped all my fluids and everything was going fine, until I pulled my tranny dipstick and saw that it was no longer there. The threaded plug that it was attached to is now a just, and the dip stick portion is floating around somewhere in the transmission. I last dropped all the fluids about 1500 miles ago before I put it up for the winter and the dipstick was attached then. So somwhere between last night at 8:30 and 1500 miles ago, it broke. The bike currently runs great, shifts fine, the clutch works great, no problems mechanically as of yet.

What should I do? Should I take it to a dealer and let them dismantle the transmission in hopes of finding it? Or is the dipstick made of plastic and are the gears capable of chewing up without causing the rear wheel to lock and throw me for a loop {been there, not fun, don't wanna go back}.

Any help on this would be much appreciated guys! Thanks

I'd probably take the cover off of the top of the tranny and inspect the situation. It's most likely either chewed up or stuck in a spot where its done no harm.

Pull the side cover off, if it's not in there then it probably migrated to the bottom of your trans. Might be able to pull the side door off and see it in the trans. but I have a feeling it's in the side cover.

Default Dipstick

Why not take a magnet and go fishing for it ? If you can't find it or get it out, you can then take the cover off and the side door..
Mine is made of a hardened metal and isn't likely to be chewed up. Engine oil maybe but not the trans dipstick.
