fluid leak

i have a 02 wideglide and have a leak behind the primary. it is tran fluid. it does not leak much just enough to bother me. one guy told me it was too full and it was coming out of the overflow. changed fluid a couple of times since it started leaking. i dont think it too full always put in what is what the book say. always used bel-ray. any ideas?

I have an 01 and my shift shaft seal is leaking, right behind primary.

Probably won't be able to tell whats leaking until you rip into it. When mine started leaking trans fluid from that location it was because my main drive bearing was shot.

My shift shaft seal leaked after only 7k miles and the replacement seal was an upgrade from the original 02 seal. When I change my trans oil I only put in 22 ozs. Service manual calls out 20-24 ozs.
