Can anyone tell me
I am in the market for a new fender and thought I might put a different style on it.
Can anyone tell me what rear fender I could use with a minimum of fabrication?
Looking for a stock front fender and this rear to go with the tank I bought so I can have them painted
If changing the rear is a pain, then I will just find another
stock one
Thanks
Got it for 52 dollars including shipping from E Bay
here is a very primo rear fender oem for a fx style bike.... it will also work on most any of the evo/sportys too....its an easy swap for many other makes and models too such as the superglides and older dynas and so on....this one is in great cond and has no extra holes drilled and no dings and dents that i could find....even the paint is still in great cond...its a two tone blue and silver combo....this is a great fender to either replace the one on your bike now or as a spare....they are also great if you want to try and do some custom paint schemes....

I ended up buying an aftermarket 8.5" wide and narrowing it to 8.25, but I knew this before ordering. I had to not only narrow it, but re-radius it to shorten it's length tip to tip, then recut the openings to match the new radius, cut in the belt clearance, drill 12 holes, some of them elongated, measure, measure and measure some more. I'm not complaining because I knew what to expect, but the job isn't for a buy and bolt on sort of guy. Frenching in a plate isn't that easy, either.
I hope your $52 ebay fender works out for you, that is a good buy, but you will still be faced with at least painting. I know that the Dyna's got wider fenders in later years, but don't know of any source that lists the widths model by model and year to year, nor for the non-Dyna bikes.
I have a collection of nonreturnable fenders, bars, risers and whatnot from my own search for comfort and customization, so don't feel alone if the new fender doesn't work out. On the other hand, it can be made to fit, you just might need help in doing it.
It is fun, though, to just make stuff work. That is the spirit of Harley ownership, at least it used to be a generation or so back where I come from.
I do have the skills and tools to modify this fender, even if I have to narrow it up, I just hope I don't have to do it due to not really having the time
I bought a tank and a front fender and then this rear so I can have some custom paint done while still riding the bike thru the summer
98SS, I think the rear fender on a WG got bigger in either 02 or 03 but I am not sure about the years before that
I will let you know when it arrives if it will fit

The front fender would not have to be narrowed since you have a Wide Glide, if you get one from a narrow, or mid glide front end all you need is spacers. I run a narrow type fender with 3/4" spacers on each side.
