If you plan on "riding" your bike up the ramp and into the truck bed, be very very careful and get some help.
One little off balance jig and over you go....possibly to the ground with a 600# plus bike on top of you.
The same if your backing it down the ramp.....get some help. One little tweak and bang...your down and so is your bike.
i have a pressure treated 2x6 with a 10 dollar ramp kit and have used it for 15 years . i have a 98 chevy short bed that i have had every thing from baggers to choppers in with gate shut , just have to put wheel in drivers side corner and pull back tire over . my friends make fun of my lowrider til i rescue their butts and its easy to load in
That loadall system is pretty slick. But I wanted something that I could put in and take out of on my own. I'm not sure how heavy that platform is. The thing I like about that system is it works for ATVs also.
it weighs 300 and the inner slideout is maybe 100+ 120 maybe?(i'm guessing) yeah, it works great with big John Deer lawn tractors too...it quality aluminum and the landing and ramps are 'cut' groves to Grab your tires even in the rain.

i hem/hawed for a yr looking at trailers to move around the yard to cut grass, get tags at the DMV, keep the tires up and replaced, etc etc. fianlly took the $2k plunge and i like it! (it does take up some bed space, but you can stack stuff on top of it...and if you had a tool box, that is a drawback but you would prob be taking your tool box out to put a bike in anyway)

that is a fair warning, but the loadall sys is perfect and wide and you can plant your feet well and does not use tailgate straps for support. i have a 06 DWG.

if you're using your tailgate straps to hold you up, you are at risk of them breaking.
again, i'm not affiliated w/loadall. i just have one and recommend it, if you do NOT want a trailer and want to park it (truck/loadall/bike) in a single parking place even at a hotel/motel/your garage. weights 300 lbs, internal ramp(s) slides easy.

I'm not disputing you, just curious. how do you get a dead 700lb bike up a 2x6?

Does anyone load their dyna in the back of a truck with out using a wheel chock or boards or anything? I'm wondering if I can just load my street bob using ramps into the back of my F-150. It will have to sit on the tailgate though.

Build a couple of small ramps by stacking some 2x8 or 2x10s to drive the front tires of the truck up on. Will lower the rear end on the truck and decrease the angle at the tailgate.
I have the tractor supply ramps and loaded my sporty for the first time. I too have a shorter truck bed, F150 crew cab. I mounted a front wheel chock and used easy straps and hauled it from home for 3 hours to where I am working. A little concerned about unloading tonight but the ramps do have chains to keep them from just sliding out from under. I too found a small mound to soften the drop. Should have bought that toy hauling travel trailer would be easier.
