I've been thinking about putting the H/D Mini Floorboard Kit on my 2011 Dyna FXDF Fat Bob - Has anyone done this? Just wondering if they are adequate or not - thanks!
I came off of softail floorboards and found that the round peg on my FatBob put allot of strain on my right leg. Looked at the mini floorboard and the heel rest levers. The mini didn't appear to have the rear heel support that I was looking for so I went with the heel rest levers and crested bar and shield peg sets all around and it is like night and day from the stock round peg...total comfort. It extends the pegs at least an inch and gives great heel support.
I went with mini-floorboards, just not the HD brand. They are single point mounted and fully adjustable. After getting the large pegs, then the large pegs with stirrups, I went to these. I like them better than anything else I've tried. I do drag them sometimes, but certainly not as bad as longer ones would.
Where did I buy the mini-boards? They were J.C. Whitney's #CCT010306 that I bought last September, so the part number has probably changed to a different prefix. No, they aren't listed to fit, but neither were most of my simple bolt on or plug in parts that all installed without any mods.
I put Kuryakyn's Dually ISO Pegs (part #8028, the # may be different for your ride) and the optional heel rests on my '07 FXDL and have been very happy with them. The angle of the peg and heel rest can each be adjusted independently for that you can get them as comfortable for yourself as you like. While you can buy the pegs alone, adding the heel rests gives you the comfort of floorboards in a lot less space. The quality and appearance of them are also top notch.
I had the HD mini boards on my FXDF they didn't stay on too long, they just weren't comfortable for my size 12 , no heel support and not much room to move your foot around. I am currently running the 2orangeharley mini boards and they are a lot better but still not what I would call ideal.
The 2orangeharley mini boards look pretty cool. However, I've already got used to my wide Harley pegs with heal rests, and they feel like boards to me. I have several places to put my feet.
