I think the point is that not everyone wants to ride a barge, but still likes classic styling.

Default 2012 Dyna Models

I was waiting all morning for the new models to be posted. I just bought a 2011 Wide Glide 2 months ago and I am not disappointed having seen the new models. The switchback is okay but for the money I would get a road king for a a little more. I am a bit upset that they came out with the 103 and I have tyhe 96, When I pay off my wide glide they might have a 110 in every model Harley.

$1500 difference.

Looking on the website, I will admit that the presentation looks a little better now. but I still don't see a point with the price being that close to the Road King.

Again, it's a good/great idea on paper...offering a "touring" Dyna but it needed to be more specialized, "Dyna-centric" and cheaper. And again, I don't see why a windshield would be added. We've been able to add a windshield to all dyna's forever. A quarter or full fairing would be new and exciting (well, if you like that).
I think the point of this bike is lost here but I'm not surprised. Most Dyna riders ride them for the performance. I think they are going after the same type that buy the Heritage. The type that wants the classic FL look but can be stripped down unlike the Road King. You guys can't see why someone would buy it when they can get the RK for 1,500 more? Considerr this, the Heritage sells for $17,349 in Vivid Black, only $150 different than the RK and it SELLS. This is why I would buy one if I were in the market (less the shitty wheels!)........

A solo seat, lowered and laced wheels........

Nope I would take the King over the Queen for the extra 1500 everyday.

I don't think the 'mag' wheels look bad ... I guess it is just a personal preference ... I personally don't really care for the stock Street Glide or Road King mags (like the FLD ones better) ....

I think the price point is about right ... might have been a little better if they had come in around $2,000 price differential ... but, I think it will still do well in the marketplace ....

Concur with your assessment, Rick ... a "solo (Street Bob style) seat, lowered (an inch) and laced (profile) wheels" ....

I dig it ... about time ...!

Same here - I think it's a nice package. A bit pricey - but what isn't from HD. You get get the motor, the bags, the front end, the windshield. etc. for 2500 and its done for you.
What forks are those - off a RK? The 18 inch front wheel is a nice touch too.

George

What I've seen is that they are 41.3mm fork tubes (vice 49mm on the other Dynas) ... that would be the same fork tube size as both the Softail FL and Road King ... but, could not be Road King triple trees ... they will not work on a Dyna because of the geometry of their design ....

The close up photos of the nacelle on the H-D website make it appear to be a new item designed for the Dynas ... there appears to be something of a taper at a seam about two thirds up the side of the nacelle ....

* * *

Only three color choices for now ... vivid black, red, and silver ...

Here's a thought ... assuming the forks are the same width as the FLST, if you don't like the front fender, you could replace it with the Fat Boy fender ....
