Same here, and I agree. I can't even plug in a new guitar without working on it a bit. Coil splitting on humbuckers, P90's, etc.
When I first bought my Wide Glide, I thought it was perfect, and I intended to keep it all stock. That lasted only a couple of days.
Harleys are made for people like us. FX bikes most of all. Ol' Willie had a great idea when he first thought of the FX concept. After all, riders were chopping up the FL's to make them "cooler" bikes. The FX gives us something better to work with. If it weren't for the Wide Glide, I'd have gone with a Street Bob and began my mods with the front end and forward controls. Buying a bike with the right front end and forward controls was a no-brainer for me. The added rake was definitely a huge bonus, and the factory paint is still beautiful to me.
All in all, I'd say the MoCo is doing fine with today's Dyna line. The perfect basis for customization.
I could not get the wheel far enough to the left so I had it machined .250" but the front pully is very wide. I could have got away with 1/8".
I tought the belt would touch it in between the range of the fender and seat. It really just because it's not factory centered in the middle of the fender .... What exact size did you put ?

I don't quite understand your question. The wheel is almost perfectly centered in the frame. MoCo has the factory wheel off set 8-13mm to one side. Look at a new bike next chance you get.
My wheel size is 18X5.5 if that's your question.

I'm not here to argue. If you read my post you would see I wrote it couldn't be done by the average person with average tools. I also said the fender struts would need to be widened and possible swing arm mods. You would need a wider fender or widen your factory fender. Not bragging but just stating a fact. I'm a aircraft mechanic and I have access to alot of tools and equipment some don't. I have already invested in the wheels and tires I have and can't afford to get a 6" wheel and a 240 tire.
IT can be done, and some companys sell kits to do it. Heartland is one.

The heartland kit is $3600.00! It could be done alot cheaper. I would be willing to help someone locally pull it off if anyone is interested.

yes, with new swing arm, struts and some work under the primary cover a 240 will fit.
There would be nothing to prove as it would be nothing new, there is plenty of dynas out there already with 240's.
At least one member here on the forum has one. Bobber Jay has a 250 on his.
Personally I don't think they look right on a dyna.
Maybe they can but cetainly not on a bike where the owner "might" be going for a much over used look of "old school" or bobber. they had narrow tires.
I put an 18" x 5.5" with a 200 on mine, yes i have the tools and know how lol, even me being an "average person", that cracked me up... and I love the look of it but a 240 would look terrible, to me, on my style bike.
It all depends what the owner is after.
A 240 on a full custom chopper or a night rod special, HELL YEAH !!
