Saw one today at my dealer, same color. It was sitting 3 bikes down from a Road King and more than one person spoke about why wouldn't you just get the King instead of the Queen. I don't think that you could fit a 12 pack in one of those bags. Great idea but man I just couldn't imagine getting one of these over a Road King.

You have to also remember that it still has the dyna handling ability also. The RK handles well especially considering it's size, but dynas are well known and notorious for that aspect in the HD lineup.

thanks
They were a quick install once I figured out that the included dog bones weren't necessary and in fact widened them to a point where they dragged on the gentlest of turns. That just makes the install easier, though.

For comfort, I just moved them fore and aft until they seemed right, went for a spin, came back and rotated them upward in the front a bit, loctited them and called it good.

I can't see going back to pegs or pegs/stirrups again, these are just too comfy. My feet have a wide range of positions now and don't get blown off on my high speed runs.

They are the halfmoons though. they usually have the otherr style but since I don't see them on there, it means they are not in stock:

Good stuff and prices on those sites! The half moon 'boards wouldn't match what I have, but have the same type of mounting hardware as the one's I got from J.C. Whitney, and yours are 2/3 the price.

It doesn't cost the MOCO any more $$$ to build a 103" than it does to build the 96".

Well Mr. Helper, what position at MOCO do you have?

Could you post a breakdown of the 96 vs 103 manufacturing costs?

whats an even bigger rip off are the sales people. just asked the salesman about the fld. didnt know what i was talking about. turns out he had one in the back. so out of curiosity i asked what it cost. he talked me into sitting down adn letting him write out what it would cost and then had his manager appraise my bike. so heres the price they sell them for. i couldnt believe its worth 9000 more than my bike.

I don't think that OldEnuf was deservant or your sarcasm. His simple statement was very close to factual and I'm sure he doesn't have or need any HD proprietary information to make that statement.

Assembly time and therefore labor costs would be the same. That leaves the cost difference in the pistons and cylinders and the other parts needed for the increased displacement. These cost deltas are too close to call, since the tooling for the 103" upgrade to the 96" engine upgrade has already been done by the factory for their 103" kits of the past. I don't recall the change from 88 to 96 inches associated with a price hike and that change required retooling.

Harley is just testing the water on their pricing, but a niche bike, due to it's other newly manufactured parts, will need to be priced a bit higher to regain the costs of research, engineering, development and testing.

Those pipes and bags, for example, were a whole new product that was brought to life just for this bike and made to fit together. The R&D costs for them will be tacked onto the first few thousands of FLD bikes sold, etc., etc..
