read the article in this months American Iron magazine . After reading it I totally understand why they charged what they did. They put a touring style front end on it with the new touring front end technology. Looks like its engineered really well. if I was in the market for a road king id get this one first.

Cool handles like a dream next to my bagger

man it handles a lot better than a bagger.
haven't ridden many dynas to compare it to. my old ladies 84 fxrs handled bettter until we lowered it now it is a toss up
yeah I got ripped off been ripped off before probably get ripped off again probably gonna bitch about it.
people dying all of the world for the right to bitch.
american tradition
mean time, I sure like riding this pile of $hit.
boom audio drowns out all the whirr$ click$ pop$ and rattle$
windshield looks great on the shelf no buffeting from there
I could have built this bike or close to it for a grand or two less
so what?
I got a black one I ain't pissed about it and I am almost positive it will start and get me where I want to go next time I need to go anywhere.
if I figure out lower fairings and buy that 1500 batwing I will let my bagger go it just wont be needed anymore.
this bike makes more sense for my riding environment (urban) long trips for me are few and far between this bike could handle a long one anyways. (I will miss my heated seats)

Quote, "By today's standards few pre-rubber mount bikes qualify as a "touring" bike I guess."
Rode thru 44 states, to the east and west coasts of Canada, and a 1000 mile loop in Mexico on my non-rubber mount Shovel. No ipod or cell phone either. And I like the looks of this new Dyna.

If the floorboards will retro fit my 2011 street bob I will be getting a set. its really the only thing I miss about my last bike. Dynas rule!!

I have been looking for risers that don't require new cables and My local HD thinks the new Switchback risers will fit 2009 Superglide. I am going to find out soon. Dyna's rule indeed!!

Default really??

this is quite possibly the most rediculous thread i have ever read.....

to those who cant justify the difference in price from a fxd to a fld, riddle me this.... example:
2012 electraglide classic-$19,499
2012 electraglide ultra limited-$23,799
difference-$4300 and that buys you... abs, security, cruise, 2 more speakers and lowers. now this is apples to apples...

there is no way to make a superglide into a fld for less than $3000... i just put a fl front end on my 73 fx. cost me about $600 and that was using VERY used parts fron ebay..... now add floor boards, windshield, fenders, hard bags, paint, sweet 2-1 exhaust, big bore kit (super glide is 96"), and fl style nacelle. you have now exceeded your $3000 "budget".

not to mention there are so many new riders who lack ability and know-how to do such work.... this is a really nice bike that in my opinion is well equipped for the price. perfect for one who cant or just doesnt want to be bothered doing all that work. this is a bike you can tour on but will out perform a dresser any day. not to mention it brings touring to a lower price range....

i am a fan of dressers, just cant afford one. i would buy a fld until then.

these are just my opinions (except my dresser example) im not an expert, but i have had my butt on a few seats.... countless asians, 80 xl, 73 fx, 00 flstf and almost all the stock at my local dealer(my bro is a tech there) there are pros and cons to all bikes. opinions differ. no matter what your opinion, all that matters at the end of the day is that we can saddle up and ride.

I think the Switchback is a great idea but they dropped the ball a bit during the execution. I see all the positives and understand how they price their stuff, but know we could all do this cheaper on our own (and it would look better).
You should compare the specs on the Switchback to the RK and SG on Harleys website. Their wheel base and seat height are almost identical. The only difference is the Switchback doesn't have the added weight like the extra exhaust pipe, fairing and added brackets and chrome trim the RK has. It's only about 90 lbs difference so anybody that can ride a Switchback can ride a RK or SG. The bigger bags and gas tank are just an illusion and make them look bigger.

I was with you all the way until you said this.......have you actually ever opened a RK bag and taken a look inside? You could put your bag in it and still have room for a set of rain gear...................
