well i just got back from riding tonight and something went wrong. i was on the last straight away to my house and decided to get on it and rip it some. well when i got home to stop my bike was making a really random and weird noise, it almost sounds like a turkey call and it sounds like its coming from the bottom left side of the motor.
my bike is a 2001 superglide fxd. any help or ideas would be really appreciated, casue not being able to ride really really fu*kin sucks
Drain the primary and measure the amount of fluid that was in it. It's the only way to check the fluid level in the primary. You wont get a full quart out but it should be at least a halve quart.
Are you using a full synthetic fluid or the HD stuff? How many miles are on the fluid? Is the magnet on the plug covered with metal bits?
If it were me I'd pull the primary cover and take a look.
well between gettin rngaged and moving into a new place i finally got around to finding the problem. i dropped it off at my buddys house who is a harley mechanic and the front sprocket bolt in the primary came unscrewed casue the factory never put LOCTITE on the damn bolt. so it went nuts inthe promary grinding and scratching its way around.
great now my girlfriends running around the house gobbling like a turkey LOL.. glad you found the problem. If my bike ever gobbles Ill know what to do. I hope the bolt didn't do too much damage to your primary chain, case , tensioner etc.
