D&D performance exhaust already has a 2 into 1 header for the Switchback and I'm thinking that's what I will put on it when I have the Stage III kit upgrade put on this bike.
First ride into work this morning and it rode beautiful and smooth. I was a little concerned because the owner's manual said for the first 50 miles to keep it under 3000RPMs but at 70MPH, it was revving 2550RPMs. Nothing to worry about with that sweet 6 speed tranny.
And by the way, my '01 FXD SuperGlide is still active and I will be riding that for hopefully a long time to come.

I rode my e glide yesterday while the FLD was getting its first service.
if anyone is considering ditching their touring bike for an fld they are going to be feeling a little short changed. full fairings heated seats and a stereo are hard items to do with out. I suppose if I never had a touring bike I wouldn't know what I am missing. well, I know. glad I have both at this point. it was raining yesterday. FLD; full leathers gloves etc. E glide; leather jacket no gloves no chaps no problems. I do not think a switchback will ever measure up to an electraglide. like comparing a tent with an RV.
don't get me wrong I love my dyna and it is my primary bike right now. long trips are going to be on my dresser oink oink

I agree with the fact that the Switchback will never replace the ElectraGlide. Two different classes there. I test rode a RoadGlide Ultra and it was nothing but pleasure with the power and handling. But I also agree that the Switchback has the it's place as shorter trip bagger, say for a short weekend trip. I say mine is a Road King Light.
Not to change the subject but does anybody know if the Screaming Eagle Night Stick Slip on muffler is tuneable as far as removing or adding the exterior diffusion discs. Can you make them louder or quieter by doing this? I'm trying to decide which way to go with my upgrades and if anybody has experience with these I'd appreciate some advise.

I talked with the guys at SuperTrapp the other day (they make the Nightsticks). First thing, the basic rule is: to go from closed end cap to an open cap (louder), remove 10 disks to have equal performance, i.e. closed cap with 14 disks = open cap with 4 disks. Beyond that, the pipe is fully tuneable just as all SuperTrapps are.

Thanks for the info. Over the winter, I need to decide what I want for performance. If I go with SE Nightstick, Stage I air cleaner, SE performance tuner and dealer install cost, I figure it will cost me $800-$900 and I don't know how much HP/torque increase I will get. The other end of my consideration is a dealer package that gives me D&D 2 into 1 exhaust, Stage I air cleaner, T-Man high torque cams and a SERT for about $2500 and I think that'll take the bike up over 92HP. I know how the D&D exhaust sounds, which is awesome but not quite sure how the SE Nightstick compares. Is the extra money worth it when compared to each of the options?

I test rode the switchback and the heat is unbearable! The salesperson said that the 103 in the Dyna's produce much more heat than the touring models due to the space. I was on the bike for 20minutes and ouch!

That story sounds a little fishy to me and after putting over 700 miles on mine, I don't notice any difference. Is jag12 new to Harleys? My wife said she felt more heat on her right foot but I think it's because of the cats.
