WEll I got to take one out the other day while it was nice outside. Had to drive to Charlotte to do so but I fell in love with this beauty. Coming from a metric cruiser that I did all the upgrades on, this will be a nice ride to put in my stable.
I test rode the switchback and the heat is unbearable! The salesperson said that the 103 in the Dyna's produce much more heat than the touring models due to the space. I was on the bike for 20minutes and ouch!
Get real. No salesperson told you a dyna 103 generates more heat than a touring model with a 103. That's ridiculous and not even believable.
If anything it would be other way around due to the various available and stock farings in and around the engine that can restrict airflow. In fact my own brother-in-law who recently bought a 2012 limited w/103 (a touring bike, no doubt) actually stated that he felt more heat coming from his new bike compared to his old road king (88 engine) and easily corrected it (extra heat problem) by opening up the vents a little, near the crashbar area... done deal.
like i said before RK big square *** lead sled....i looked at both but i wanted a bike that would be fast and sporty at the end of the day..if the RK had the nicer looking *** end like a street glide i may have went with an RK..but the looks on a RK and the weight just dont do it for me and if i am going to spend that much why stop there? MIght as well just buy a street glide or a road glide
I've put about 300 miles on my new Switchback. It's been a great experience. The bike is the perfect combo of power, speed, and handling.
UPDATE= I've doubled the mileage and have noticed a couple things. 1= it does run pretty hot. 2= there are times when I wish the brakes felt stronger, esp the rear, it seems a bit soft. But, what a great handling bike and, yes, the love affair is still on-- it's a joyfilled ride!
Only put 1000 miles on mine before it went into the shop. The only time I felt to much heat is when I had my left foot too close to the Primary. easy enough fix.and move your foot.
Seriously looking into putting a little better of a brake pad on mine.
I got almost 5k
my cylinders are seeping oil
my oil filter assembly leaks
the legs are corroded
mirrors are pitted the rocker boxes are ruined
my head light trim ring is loose
before progressive got it it was wobbling like crazy
my back tire is bald
the brake pedal rubber is shot the shift lever rubber is ripped open
all the windshield bolts are rusted to death along with the mirror nuts and the shifter fasteners
the finish on my se pipe is shot already
they screwed up my paint on my tank looks like a hair is in it
how does warranty work ?
I have never had one
still like the bike
little miffed though
yep got 4200 on mine , there warranty works great for most part , dealers can suck to deal with.. I have had some issues, all have been dealt with fairly and professionally.. finish is perfect on mine, its also not wobbly feeling, i do have some vibe issues, and some minor things we were waiting on parts for..
just take it in and start bitching about stuff?
I don't even know how to do that.
I have had a lot of rides, so many.
most of them were broke when I got them many broke on the way home
it just seems crazy to just go in and complain about a leaking harley
I feel old
I can get past this I got pass texting
