I like the switchback. It's only a womans bike if she owns it. Besides, why should the women get all the good bikes? I'd get one. Why put down new models. If they didn't put out anything new everybody would say what a blah line-up they have this year. It might not be for everyone but at least it's something different.

I didn't put anything down, I was just replying to the OP with an observation I have made, same for the FLSTF/B and the FLSTN and the "Road Queen" comment seemed a little trollish.
I like the FLD and if it is possible and practical I may just try and fit the rear fender, bags and the floor boards to my 07 SB. From what I have observed the floor boards should fit no problem and rough measurements the fender should fit, but you have to consider the new lamp assemblies are LED and use a Body control module, etc. so what is needed to retro fit them is an unknown.

If you read my OP instead of getting hung up on the thread title, you will see I am asking a question based on the salesman at the Harley Dealership that was talking to a customer about the target market for the SWB

I am a BIG man, and I am not dissing any bike. If you read my other posts, both my wife and I like it, and think it hits a great demographic and it seems that HD really did some research into a hole in the market.

The SALESMAN stated something, and I asked the question based on that statement - sorry it got you so twisted

there are plenty of men and women alike that buy each and every model HD sells, I didn't call it a girl bike, I asked if it was the Road Queen, meaning is it the smaller version of the Road King for those who do not fit on a touring bike, take that for whatever you wish.

My wife rides a Fat Boy, so it that a girls's bike - Yep sure is, it's even in her name - that wasn't the question of the thread.

I'm 5'11" and 218 lbs. So while not huge, I wouldn't consider myself small either. I like the way the SB feels. I fit on it just fine. I hate the handlebars on the Road King. And with what HD wants to swap out bars, I'd just as soon have the more agile, more powerful, FLD.

@lgenf, I wouldn't sweat it much. Comprehension is a huge issue on this forum. Eventually you'll learn to just blow off the nonsense responses, or spend a lot less time and energy here. It does get old.

Default Switchback = Road Queen?

I helped with Demo Rides of 2012 Harleys at my local dealership today. I had the opportunity to ride the Switchback, along with other models, including a Road King, a Softail Low, a Softail Deluxe, a Softail Heritage Classic, and a Street Glide. I'm 5' 8", 180 lbs. I thought the Switchback was a very comfortable ride. The floorboards, shifter, and brake were well-positioned for me. The windshield was wide, not too tall, and I could easily look over it. I felt no wind buffeting at 60 mph. The engine in the specific bike I rode had a lot vibration in 2nd and 3rd gears, but really smoothed out in 4th gear (probably unique to this bike). All in all, I really liked riding the Switchback.

I can understand other comments in this forum that compare the price of the Switchback and the Road King and conclude that the Road King offers more back for the buck. However, I think the ergonomics of these two bikes are different enough that some people might find the Swithback a more comfortable ride. After riding the Road King and Softail models, I really missed the heel shifter on the Switchback. Maybe a heel shifter is available as an add-on.

Now that H-D has acknowledged that the Dyna is a viable touring bike, I hope they sell a bunch of 'em and that they come out with a cruise control module for the Switchback, which will fit other Dyna models.

Nothing about his bike is or even suggests for "women" only. In that it will be attractive to a lot of women is just common sense. So are most other Dynas, many of the Softails and some women will also ride FLH dressers. BFD Some guys (not all) are secure enough in their manhood to ride whatever the hell they want and pay no attention to the Harley "Chrome Consultant", (or online forum opine), and then a few must ride a $75,000 custom built by someone else. They also iron their jeans before each ride. 50% of new riders are posers, male and female. Welcome to Planet Earth.

It's hard to deny that it will be or already is a popular bike. I've seen three of them in my neck of the woods this past week, being ridden by a big guy, small guy and a woman. Although I'll admit I haven't seen the light of day much lately, I haven't seen that many Wide Glide's during the last month!

lgenf - Your post was without question a pissy little commentary. For accuracy a little Road King would be a Road "Prince"
