....... Second, both Sputhe and True Track make stabilizers for Dyna's that solve the wobble issue associated with rubber mounted swing arms. I have a True track, and providing everything else on the bike like swingarm and neck bearings, tire balance, tight spokes ect.... are up to par, will solve the wobble issue a lot better than solid mounts. Just sayin'...

I have to ditto bikerlaw's comments, I went with a Sputhe Positrac for my perceived problems with mounting an oil cooler, but later saw that the True Track would also work with a little modification. Either will solve the problem that the OP was trying to address.
The Evo Softails (pre-2000) were not counter-balanced ... so, it is not like Harley has not had a solid mounted motor in recent history ....
I think one potential issue would be that the swingarm is mounted to the transmission ... however, with the motor/trans hard mounted, I suppose technically, it would not matter ... the geometry of the drive pulley and swingarm would be unchanged ....
If I am correct, going back to the Duo Glide in 1958 when Harley Davidson began with a line of swingarm bikes ... I think up until the Dyna model (okay, maybe the FXR) all of the motors were hard mounted ... Panhead, Shovelhead, Evo ....
Surfor chop is right. Softwood stayed solid mounted for years and sportsters just went rubber mounted in 04. It is very possible to take a twincam motor and add the adapter bracket to mount it in a rigid evo frame

Naw, Harley has been rubber mounting for over 30 years. In addition to the rubber mounted FXR Shovelheads, they also had rubber mounted FLT Shovelhead baggers. They were some ugly *** motorcycles, but thats another story.
