Similar to the dirtbike peg thread...I like the HD clamshell and HD Vrod fairings, but just didn't feel like spending the coin on either. Upon searching Ebay I found these "fly screen" fairings for $55. It comes with a bracket which mounts to the top triple tree on a sportster. I welded up longer mounting extensions and used from 1.25" cheapo rubber coated band clamps from the local Ace hardware. I was having a shitty day and my welds are horrible. Ontop of that, the hardware store clamps LOOK cheap. So either I wrap the clamps on the bars with a bandana...lol...or I find some machined 1.25" clamps to work (any ideas regarding the clamps?). When my dad gets back into town, it's possible we could make some. At any rate, I found a cheap fairing and fairly easy way to mount it. It will do until i find something better.
EDIT...now that I think about it more...I could make a bracket which mounted using the bolts which bolt the t-bars on...would be a cleaner look
I think you have the right idea. If you make a one piece bracket that gets sandwiched between the top triple clamp and the risers for the bar it should be plenty sturdy and would clean it up a bit. Is there a bottom bracket?
no bottom bracket, just three mounting points for the upper one...although it only came with one bolt...so I'll go get some tomorrow...I'm thinking of sandwiching a bracket between the underside of the top triple clamps and the bolt heads vs. ontop where its more visible
