Can you give us a short review of your new Wide Glide? Great choice by the way. Any Pics? Take care.

I will have to wait untill my daughter can help me post some pics, but It's a Vivid Blk/Flames and the only thing I have done so far is to put V&H slip on's and waiting for the dealer to get the parts in for a taller detachable sissy bar.
The first thing I noticed was that slow speed manuvers was a little awkward do to the raked front end of the WG,The Sporty's front end being closer in was more managable at slow speeds, but it just took a little while in a big parking lot to get the feel for it.One thing I did notice right away and I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, is the rubber bushings where the risors meet the tree have a little bit of play front to back(more so to the front).
The only way I noticed it was after pulling out from the dealer a car pulled out right in front of me causing me to get on the brakes enough to move me forward and I felt the risors move forward(nothin like gettin a good break check on the maiden voyage huh).I took it straight back and had the service department check it out, they said it was normal for it to have a little give for vibrations and offered to put poly bushings in it but I stuck with the rubber ones.Over all the Nightster was a little more responsive on the throttle but I had some mods on it though, but the stock 103 has plenty of power to it for me right now.
After my last post I caught a break in the weather and put a couple hundred miles on her and got the tires scuffed in and she hugs the road good now.Very smooth ride vs the Sporty, having another gear is great too LOL.All in all I feel more comfortable with the WG,IDK it just feels more planted and and secure than my old Nightster.Everybody said I would miss my Sporty and the Dyna was not as fun to ride, but I am really diggin this bike.

Maybe you have read or heard about some of the heat issues with these rides.

Could you please describe anything that seemed like excessive heat to you?

Thank you

Yeah it does seem to run a little hot,but it was in the upper 90's when I brought it home from the dealer Saturday.I not sure but I think you can have the idle cool down feature turned on at the dealer(parade mode?)But the other rides I took since then where cooler evenings in the mid to upper 70's didn't seem that bad.I may put a oil cooler on it but that will be later.

ive ridden and owned several sportsters over the years. My last one was a screamer but the dyna I have now is way better for riding all around and still has enough power and maneuverability to make me smile every time I ride it. I love this bike.

Congrats on the new WG! I too have a 2012 WG in vivid black/flames. My risers have the same movement as you describe. I don't notice it at all when riding, mostly when pulling it in and out of the motorcycle stand. I did double check the riser mounts and everything was tight so I assume it is some kind of rubber anti-vibe mount. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

As far as the heat, I don't have anything to compare it to, as this is my first bike, but I don't notice any excessive heat. We just had a couple 90* days and even stopped at traffic lights I didn't notice anything unusual. So far, I'm really liking this bike!

Congrats on the new bike!

While I can't throw mine around like a Sportster, it still handles just fine. I didn't like the factory installed Dunlop tires, so I installed Pirelli Night Dragon tires. I hope the Michelins work better on the 2012 models than the Dunlops did on the '10 and '11 models.

I scraped the stock muffler a few times the first couple of days. These things don't have the lean angle of a Sporty, so don't be surprised when you scrape a little in the curves.
