Check air pressure, wheel alignment, loose fasteners, if all that's good then
Tighten up that neck bearing nut 1/8th turn. My 2012 sbob wobbled at speeds of 80 and above. I tightened the nut a little more than 1/8th of a turn n that fixed the problem. The first adjustment I did 1/8th turn and it didn't wobble anymore but it felt like it wanted to so I tightened it just a hair more and it's good to go now.
It can be tires, I've even heard of one incident where new fork oil helped, so bad springs are possible.
Just eliminate all the easy ones first before you go wrenching inside.
I've seen so many things cause this. On my previous bike (an 07 Street Bob) it would wobble at 40mph (riding with no hands) without the windshield. If I didn't grab the bars pretty quick it would go violent on me, like it might actually tank slap.
I put the windshield back on and it went away totally. I guess the wind pressure on the shield held it in place more from whatever was causing it. It can be several different things.
Tires not aired up, Bad tires, Rear alignment out, some spokes loose, wheel out of balance, improperly mounted tires, improper torque on swing arm nut, neck bearing adjustment too loose, bad neck (stem) bearings. bad swing arm bushings and probably a few I missed. Just eliminate the easy ones first.
I see alot of higher speed wobble discussed in this thread, what about lower speed wobble? mine feels like a loose tire either up front or in the rear, ive had it up off the ground and spun each wheel freely and cannot see any play in them? feels like its getting worse, any thoughts?
so everyone knows, i took the stock narrow glide off my 02 fxdl, replaced it with a stock front end from an 02 fatboy. front tire is an 18" 3.5 tire, it litterally feels like a low tire but its sitting right at 40 psi in the rear. I had the tire off last fall (rear) as it was flat and had the tube replaced the person who replaced t rebalanced the tire and i reinstalled? bearings going bad? (replaced in may 2011) alignment bad? loose neck bearing? Im at a loss it feels like its getting worse
my 2012 had what i would consider a death wobble cause it only happened at high speeds on deceleration.( all three times were over 100MPH) the first time i didnt think much about it the second time did a total inspection myself rear spokes were so loose im surprised it stayed together!!!, remember some of these bikes are assembled on fridays when people are in a rush to get out and monday when people dont wanna be at work. double check everything yourself a new bike can have issues from assembly!!!
yeah mine ended up being loose spokes, in fact I had three broken ones on the rim. I fortunately had another rim and tire ready to go so I installed it (after checking all spokes) and have been good all spring/early summer
