stilup, you can lug the bike without it pinging. You have got to start shifting much later or you will do damage. I never go for 6th gear until 65-70 and I live in Texas where it is flat. Not only that, you don't want to be in 6th gear doing 55 and have to accelerate suddenly to avoid an accident. You won't get out in time. Change your habits now before it's too late.
Yandeltx, As you have already figured out, the harley download is pretty much a waste of money. The download falls under the EPA mandates so it won't give you enough fuel.
The sert is a great tuner but it's really only as good as the person who sets it up. Canned maps are hit and miss.
So as I see it, here are your choices:
Go back to the dealer and get the sert only if they apply the 200 you already spent towards the new set up. Afterall you took the experts (lol) advise and it didn't solve anything, why should you pay for no results?
Buy the XEID's, for 100 it will do a lot more then the harley download. (I never have a pop between gears) If nothing else, talk to the owner of nightrider.com and he will give you better advise then I could.
Start over with a quality tuner and a highly recommended dyno tuner. (my local harley dealer has a dyno but subs out real performance work to a known tuner outside the dealer)
Good luck, let us all know how it turns out. That 103 should be tearing up the asphalt, don't settle.
I use 6th gear more like an overdrive. Pretty much only if I know I can go about 75 mph or faster without having to slow or when there's no cars around. Even if traffic is going 80 but it's really crowded, i almost like the thought of a little help from "engine braking" in 5th gear rather than just slamming on the breaks in 6th.
But to stay on topic, I'm another satisfied XIED customer.
The XIED's worked fine for me with stock exhaust, but experienced alot of decel pop after adding Rush slip'on's. Added a Dobeck TFI, free flowing AC, and tuned away the decel pop.
Funny you say this... comming from the aftermarket car audio business i had to throw this in the dealerships faces all the time!! oh my radiator stopped working must be because you put a remote start in.... you throw the act in their face the shut up and warranty it... when i purchased a new vehicle a few months ago the finance guy tried to say something about putting aftermarket stuff on my car will void the warranty.. i said only if its directly related to the problem. magnusson-moss act covers it... he shut up..

That is why my first response to anyone trying to tell me the warranty will be voided is to demand they put that in writing, that willusually shut them up as well.
