I don't LIKE to ride in the rain or freezing cold, but I've done both. Ridden to work with NO rain in the forecast and gotten soaked the same afternoon. Riding to rallys, getting caught in the rain is a given.

Like most have already said - get good rain gear and take it with you always.

Luckily I don't mind -- and in fact LIKE TO -- clean my bike after getting caught in the rain.

On weekdays, when I take my bike to work...I ride to clients offices to do onsite work. From one client, to the other, various different stops all day long, mixed in with stops at my office. Not really practical to wear "raingear"..makes it a pain in the ****.

I don't have raingear, but I've ridden in the rain enough times on weekends. Guess riding my pedal bike all the time as a kid....no matter what the weather, got me to not care if I'm getting soaked...long as it ain't below 40 and raining. I just slow down a bit...for visibility. I will ride down to 30 degrees or so...when it's dry.

This is probably a dumb question but what do you guys that have mentioned that "it might melt" mean?

(English is not my first language, so I can't follow all slang words.)

0 - 40% chance, I'm riding.
40 - 60% but doppler shows it may not get here before ride home, I'm riding.
100% it's just going to rain while parked (with cover), I'm riding
Anything else, maybe I'll leave it in the garage.

5 work days this week, rode every day - did not get wet yesterday even though there were storms all around.

I don't mind riding in the rain, but it's the leaving the bike sitting out in the rain that hurts me, my baby is always in the garage I wish I could ride to work more, but I wear a suit every day and don't have anything to wear as overclothes really. Plus I have a briefcase and laptop to lug around, guess I could use a backpack for that though. Just gotta figure out the hair I suppose lol.

That's how I feel too. I really don't LIKE riding in the rain (then again, does anyone?) and I will avoid it if I can, but I won't ride to work knowing that it's going to rain and my bike will just be sitting in the parking lot taking a shower for 8 hours while I'm stuck at work.

For me it's a rule of 30/40. Up to 30% chance and down to 40 degrees, I ride. Because that way I have a buffer of a few percent and degrees before I'm really uncomfortable and that makes up for the inaccuracies of the forecast.
