If some one has a problem waving at me, that is just what it says, there problem. I enjoy my riding whether they wave or not. I wave at all bikes and kids in back seat of cars. What better way to get attention of mother with a car load of kids when they say mama look at the motorcycle.

I just think that alot of the newer "credit card bikers" just don't know what it really means to be a biker. These people are basically cage drivers who've been riding for less than 5 years and learned all they know about motorcycles from watching tv commercials. They don't wave to other bikers cuz' car drivers don't wave to other car drivers. They don't understand the comraderie that experienced bikers have. I've seen car drivers pass someone up who's car is broken down, but most bikers will stop and help another biker in the same position. Bikers understand the freedom that goes along with biking, and they understand the high that other bikers get from riding, that's why they wave. It's an acknowledgement of a shared experience. Cage drivers can't understand that. They can't understand it because an automobile is an insulatory experience. You're isolated from the outside world in a car. You don't feel the breeze. You don't hear the world around you. It a completely isolated experience, and the other cars on the road aren't your "brothers", they're the enemy... When one of these people buy a motorcycle they don't leave they're cage driver persona at the door, they carry it with them everywhere they go, completely unaware of the real meaning behind the experience, completely unaware of the history and the bonds that form between experienced bikers.

Last summer I pulled into the Harley dealer to pick up a part for my Dyna. I had on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a pair of sneakers. I rolled into a parking space next to a group of well dressed bikers. One of the guys says, "Just get that bike?". I said, "Nope. You just get yours?". He says, "Do I LOOK like I just got my bike?". I said, "I dunno, looks are decieving...". He says, "Man I been riding for 8 years! How long YOU been ridin'". I said, "Since 1977...", and walked inside.

I hope the story above explains why alot of bikers don't wave to other bikers...

Just goes to show ya. A$$holes are everywhere, and once in a blue moon, you'll even find one on a Harley.

Personally sometimes I feel like waving and sometimes I don't. I bought my bike to ride, not to f*cking wave at bunch of other people like I am some f*g looking for a date.

It's all because of your FF helmet. I started wearing one again this past spring. I got the same response from almost everyone I encountered. They would just look at me and shake their head and laugh. Whatever. They just don;t get it. I still wear my half helmet during hot spells and everyone waves back, but as soon as I don the FF they just ride on by, heck, alot of them have never seen a Dyna T-Sport and refuse to wave anyway. Once I ride by and accelerate, they turn and look as if to say, oops that was a Harley.

Don;t let it bother you. There just a bunch of RUB's or new riders that don't know any better.

I don't get it.

This is not the first time that this has happened. Sitting at a stop light on my ' 06 SuperGlide when 3 riders pulled up, right next to me on their Harleys. I smile and wave, but they didn't even acknowlege that I was there, 2 guys on WideGlides and a Lady on her Sporty. Just a few days before that, Riding on I-5, some guy on his '06 'Bob pulls up along side me, in my lane, I wave, he keeps looking straight forward, cracks his throttle and then rolls on.... WTF!? Is my SuperGlide, not as "Harley" as his?

I didn't used to understand it but I may have figured this out. I wear a full face silver helmet because it matches my bike, not a flat black pancake. No "biker" patches or a big eagle on my nylon (not leather) Harley FXRG jacket, I won't wear chaps and don't own a vest. And why would you really wear a skull cap or doo rag or whatever? Could it be because I wear gloves that even cover my fingers?

No skulls all over me or my bike. My bike (scoot? Now is that cool...) has stock appearing pipes and I haven't bought extra chrome.... No HD decal for my truck. (What was I thinking?? Bought a Harley instead of a sticker!!)

I wave at other bikes, including metrics and yes, even Sportsters. (Everyone knows that Sportsters aren't Harley enough... ) Most Metrics wave but they aren't part of the "family". I keep both hands on my non-ape bars, not one on my hip while reving my engine waiting for the light to change. I even use my turn signals when switching lanes because I havn't figured out the biker way to just point the direction. Should I use one finger? Two? My fist? Humm.

It shouldn't be so difficult. I just want to ride. Someone tell me the code to kool...
