I spent hours riding Harleys at a local dealer yesterday. I rode a Cross Bones that sounded amazing. Same engine as my bike (96 twin cam) but it sounded a hell of a lot bigger. It had Rinehart 2 into 1 pipes. I really liked the sound, but didn't care for the look. Any suggestions for getting a similar sound but a little more traditional look?
That might be exactly what I need. I don't know anything about exhaust really, but I really liked the deep sound. I could feel it in my chest when it was cranked from 25 feet away. How would you characterize the sound of yours?
I couldn't recommend Rush slipons highly enough. They're a quality product at a great price, and unbeatable customer service IMO. Plus if you don't get the sound you want first go-around, you can swap out the baffles. I got 1.75's and love them, but they offered me a free swap out if I didn't.

I had the same problem, wanted the traditional look.
Dealer talked me into 2 into 1s.
The Rineharts have a very deep rumble at idle, not obnoxiously loud but like you said, you can really feel it in your chest. When you get on the throttle however, they do get very loud. Not the high pitch noise you hear from some other pipes, but a nice deep loud bark.
And they come model specific and bolt right on? Really deep ground rattling sound?
If you're talking about the Rush pipes, yes they bolt right on like any other good slipon-just be sure to order the right ones. It's pretty easy.
You can make 'em sound any way you want, from just louder than stock to almost straight simply by picking the baffle size you want. This is all on their website, including sound samples-just take a look.
Well I can only speak to what I have on my Street Bob, Full System from Martin Bros exhaust "Over/under slash down" in black. They sound very good, a wicked rumble, not crazy loud though, perfect IMO.
