05 glide. it got in my way when I stuffed a d407tire under there. never put it back when I put a d402 tire back on. not planning on it changing the wheel is easier without it in the way.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who have gotten something stuck in their belt/pulley even with the guards in place. I would imagine having guards lessens the risk, but its still a risk.

It's a crapshoot. Weigh the looks against the possible problems. The odds are slim that when you pull the guard that anything will ever happen, but if it does the result's not pretty.

I don't have one. My solo bag rubbed on the belt and was causing some wear issues on the bag as well as the pulley. A new belt guard is around $150 and couldn't find any used ones. So I took a T-bracket, wrapped some para-cord around it (to smooth out the rough edges), and haven't had a problem since. And since bag stays on most of the time, no one can see the bracket.

I think everything I have removed from my bike has served some purpose or function.

do you ride on a lot of gravel roads?. where i am at in montana there is major gravel 8 months out of the year to keep the ice down. I would love to take the guards off but im afraid ill pick up a stone and I cant afford another belt and pulley. if you ride smooth roads all the time you probably wont have a problem. However anything is possible. One issue I had on a sportster I had with no guard was some idiot cut my belt . Must have gone by too fast at a light for there liking. With a guard you wont get your belt cut.

I have had to replace my chrome lower guard 3 times and have them welded twice. They do not handle the vibration very well. Anyone else have this problem?
