Looks kinda like the stuff we used to use to cover RC airplanes back when I was younger.

Won't the wrap bunch up around the curves of the tank?

It shouldn't. It is designed to shrink and contour with heat. Something with a diamond pattern or hex pattern weave it uses.

I prefer to do it this way then to try and apply it all sticky. I have ruined a few pieces of vinyl this way, lol Matter of fact, I just helped my neighbor do his hood on his Mach 1 Mustang, came out really well.

Good luck and post some pics of it as you go along.
Thanks for the tips. Do you actually wet the surface with the tint solution first, and does the heat make it dry and the adhesive on the vinyl then stick. That is what it sounded like, I just wanted to confirm. The soap doesn't affect the adhesive at all? Thanks again.

Wrapping your tins with vinyl sounds awfully ghetto.

What I would do is wet the surface down and then as I was peeling t he backing off I would wet that down as well. So, I was squirting the solution onto the sticky part. Don't worry, as you squeegee out the excess solution and apply the hair dryer, it will dry it and warm up the vinyl so it will mold around contours and stretch if needed. Be careful not to over stretch it as it may tear. At lunch time I will post some pics of my 06 Mustang GT I added stripes on. I think I took some "during app" pics as well.

I used the mix ratio for window tint. I think it is liquid dish soap with water, and it worked perfect.

Not if it is done right, it will look like a paint job. When my neighbor and I did his hood in matte black it looked like he had the hood painted and not wrapped.

Now, if you add some product to the design then yea, that is ghetto. Lord knows I have seen these damn cars lifted with huge rims and a full body wrap. So far in Charleston (surrounding areas) I have see a McDonalds car, a I 26 (think Rand McNally) car, a John Deere car, a Barbie car, and even a Cinnamon Toast Crunch car. I know the last one b/c my son loves that cereal, lol

I assume you mean Charleston, SC? In the area I lived for the last 5 yrs (northwest of Florence), the big thing was candy. There is a guy cruising that area that looks about as gangster as can be, and his lifted Caprice with 22's is wrapped with Skittles. I just couldn't help but think how gay it made the guy look. lol I wonder if they're getting paid for advertising. That's the only way I might be able to rationalize doing that.

I guess I do see your point. The product does makes it ghetto.

LOL, I forgot about that damn Skittles car. Seen that one a lot on Ashley Phosphate road. Also forgot about the Lucky Charms car too. When I lived over in Cedar Grove off of Dorchester road, there was a guy that lived in the neighborhood and his son had that stupid McDonalds car. I can still see that dumb slogan on the back end "It's Play Time", lol what a douche!

Yeah, I am talking about Charleston, SC.

Ok, sorry for all the pics but here is my 2006 Mustang GT I did stripes on and my 2005 Dodge Ram Limited Edition Daytona. Can you guess I like Orange? lol the Mustang was for my wife, not me.

The key to applying decals like the stripes is once you have the position, you lay a piece of tape across the vinyl as a "hinge" and fold one end back and remove the backing and work that end down. Then you remove the "hinge" and the other backing on the other end and do that side while taking your time and removing any air bubbles.
