Hello all. After a month of kicking tires and looking around I pulled the trigger on my new bike yesterday.
Picked up a beautiful 2012 FXDC in Ember Red Sunglo/Merlot. Had started out looking at sportsters for the economical buy in to the Harley line, but after sitting on 100 different bikes I liked the feel of the Dyna alot better. Test drove a 1200C and the Super Glide and fell in love.
Unfortunatley on my mobile right now so having issues getting the attachment management to work. Below is the url from a thread I posted a picture in earlier.
Absolutely loving the bike, no clue what I'm doing to it first. Kinda just want to enjoy it as is for a little bit. I know forwards will be coming before too long though.
Dude, I just got my FXDC 2 weeks ago. I moved up from a Sporty I had for 2 years, and I couldn't be happier! IMO, you need to do something with the pipes first and foremost. Nice choice. It looks beautiful. Ride safe.
You made the right choice, congrats and nice bike. First thing I would do is go to nightrider.com and order some XEID's for it. It comes from the factory running way to lean to satisfy the EPA, the XEID's will fix that and you will notice the engine running a lot cooler with a boost in performance, 10 minute install and your off. It will be the best 100 you will ever spend.
Enjoy
Yeah think I'm going to order a set as soon as I do the 1000 mile. Was going to put off any upgrades till there is a better selection of aftermarket parts. Figure I will look to do a 2:1, intake, and either the stage one flash or a power commander/auto tune setup all at the same time.
Was flipping through the owners manual at work last night, and got excited seeing there was a setting the dealership could enable to reduce engine temp. Assumed they would just fatten it out. Read more and just started shaking my head. I guess the setting intermitanly cuts fuel and spark to the rear cylinder at idle... 48ci thumper gogo!
Loving the bike more by the minute, truely blessed here in the Napa Valley with the weather and the beautiful surroundings.
Headed up towards Lake Berryessa today to put it through the paces more thoroughly in the corners. Having ridden sportsbikes previously I was actually grinning ear to ear impressed with how confidence inspiring and stable the ride is.
Congrats on the new ride! Make sure to join the Bay Area Harley Riders Group (right here on the forum). You will meet some great people and get out on some group rides...
