I am purchasing a 2012 Fat Bob from using the Exchange program. I will pick it up in Jan when I get home. I would like opinions on a few things please. I have been reading these forums for a while and think the D&D Fat Cats (standard not quiet baffle) are a good choice. D&D said they should be available in about 3-4 weeks they are still in design and test phase. Also considering the Power Commander V and the S&S Tuned Induction System for the AC. I know nothing on these tuners and any advise would be great. Oh and this is my 1st Harley
put a thousand miles on it with the stock set up, get the 1000 mile service done, then go nuts. by then there should be a huge variety of products for the 2012 bikes.
Congratz on the move up buddy and welcome to the site! And I have heard that D&D's give the highest power output for exhaust, plus they sound awesome!! If your the techncal type and you like to play around with software and want an exact home-made tune buy yourself a TTS Mastertune kit and learn to use it, then later if you change more stuff on the engine you will always be able to e-tune your ride with the same software. However I have had my power commander PC V for three years and it is also highly adaptable.
ride the crap out of it , do your own 1000 mile service, power commander make good stuff, dont know about the pipes , they also have the cobra power auto tune out , i think i'm leaning that way, gonna throw my S&S ac on , pipes i still like stagered straight shot types , with a crossover preferrably..
Thanks for the tips, Great idea to ride original until 1000 mile service to get it broke in. I'm not to much up on the whole tuneing the bike myself (well atleast not yet). Maddghost: I like that seat.
Would it void or cause and negative effect on my factory warranty iI I install these items and take it to get tuned or would I be better having it done at a ceritifed shop?
nice choice of bike for your first Harley ,
everyone seems to do a stage one tune in some form or other , but personally I'm not buying it , what you pay , for only a little gain isn't worth it in my book , so i went with a set of rush slip ons , just to get some sound out of that engine , and Ive left everything else standard ,
if your worried about the warranty , and you have the money , get the supplying dealer to do any work after the 1k service ,
theres no point doing anything till then , you need to get used to the bike while your running it in anyway , Harley,s are not like most bikes so take your time ,
then you can decide if you need more power or just want to personalize it a bit with slip ons and a seat etc ,
have fun , and stay safe
