I got this bike with 460 miles on it about three month's ago. It had a little leak from the primary, or what appares to be comming from that area. If it put my hand up under the darby cover, where the belt is the casing is covered in oil and it drips on to the ground. Can this be fixed. I took it in my my 1k service they found nothing wrong with it. Its at 1400+ miles now and still doing it. This is my first Harley so sorry if this is a useless question to ask.
#2 got off the bike last night and noticed that the handle bars move. They are bolted to the triple tree with bushing's is this normal. never noticed it before but like i said this is my first harley and everything seem's to be bolted to rubber bushings.
You could have a leak from the seal in the back of the primary where the input shaft comes into it or it may need an o-ring on the plug. Yes the bars will move some, the bushings are there to help minimize vibration.

Thanks, that's what i figured after i looked at them. Can't believe it took me 3 months to notice that.
Will the primary be fine until the next service? or should i take it in. i've got 1400 miles on it had it out of service since 1k just wondering.
If you don't like the movement in the bars (I hated it but then again my bars were taller so it should have made it worse) then you can get poly bushings which will stiffen up that slop.
The main prob with that leak is the possibilty of contamination of the drive belt.....they aren't too keen on oil so I would get it done ASAP....you gotta get it done at some point and now is always the best time to do maintenance.

yeah it seems to be getting on the belt alot as well. not so much that its slinging oil all over the place, but i can feel a coat of oil on the belt itself.
