I put folding hi-way pegs on the insides of my guard and love them. So nice to pick your feet up on long stretches and relax a little.
who makes those?
Sorry it took so long to get back to you--I bought them at my H-D dealer. You have to buy the "Engine Guard Footpeg Mounting Kit (Part# 50964-98) and then any footpeg you like.
Last week I failed to stop in time at a stop sign and ran into the rear of my partner. Both of us OK but did drop both bikes on the ground. Major damage do my bike was the front exhust and air cleaner cover with scratches on both mufflers and dings on my front brake handle, mirror, rear turn signal, and brake pedal. Also sheared a boltand bent the platethat holds the right front foot pegs. Major damage to my ego. I feel lucky as it could have been worse. I am convinced that having an engine guard would have prevented some of that damage. After reading your posts, I defineatly plan to put one on myFXDL. I also like the way it looks onyour bikes. Thanks!
yep, I agree. the bars certainly won't do a lot in a high speed crash, but when you get stupid at a stop or slow speed they do provide some protection for the engine and controls. besides that, they make a great place to mount pegs for the long cruises.

Forget about your ego and how good the engine guard looks.
If you're running up yourbuddies "tailpipe", you might want to consider a safety class.
Engine guard is the politically correct term for CRASH BARS.
Please be aware, and ride smart.
You may not be posting here after the next run up your buddie's rear.
Man. I'm sure this won't be popular but I have never seen a crash bar on a Dyna!?! Thought they were for baggers...Seems to go against everything a Dyna stands for in my mind. Function over form, I guess.

I have to agree, I would never ever put them on my Wideglide, but different strokes for different folks..
