I can tell you the 412's aren't very good. I put a pair on my Fat Bob and they were much worse than stock; they either bottomed or, if wound up, were like rocks. Might do as a cheap replacement for broken stock shocks for a lighter rider but don't consider them as any kind of upgrade.
FOXSTER, did you get a shorter spring that's why they bottom out so much for you? Are you a bit heavier where you should have gotten the Heavy Duty model of the 412?
I wonder how good the 440's are. You can get the 412's on eBay for about $210 and 440's for bout $450.
Makes me wonder how much better the 440's really are since there are so many mixed reviews on the 412's.

I got the same length as stock. So, no, they weren't shorter. I'm 195lb, which I'd not think is really that heavy compared to some Harley riders .
I have the stock length 430's and i like them a lot. They are adjustable by hand so when my girlfriend (115 lbs) rides on back i just crank them down a turn or 2. I like the lowered look but enjoy the comfort a little more. I weigh about 180 with my boots and stuff on and usually ride with them completely adjusted out ( softest setting ) . Good luck, i know its a b!tch making such a decision.
I have the 11" 412s and mine rides better then the stockers except over big bumps. They were heavy duty's and that sucked, but progressive swapped the springs out for standard springs and I like it so much better then stock.
Sorry I can't help with the other model you mentioned.
We are on the same boat, I weigh 170 and my girl 115 lol, that should work, bitch should never complain about rough ride and hard seat LMAO.
