Default Snow is falling! Winter projects underway!

Yep, I live at 8k feet in the Denver foothills. Going to get 5-10 inches of snow this weekend. Now, unlike some other areas in the nation, just because it is snowing, does not mean that I can't ride anymore. It will be back in the 70s by next week, but I am taking the initative to start some changes on the bike. I am going on my annual trip to southern AZ in early February and want to get the bike done before then.

On the to do list:

-Install new rear fender (take off from older Bob)
-Modify saddlebags to be detachable (using the bolt and end nut method)
-New Alloy Arts Strut sigs
-New brake light for new fender (getting PC'd with Joe now)
-PC the horn cover and bracket (with Joe now)
-Install new (used) 14" black bars (some new cables needed)
-Relocate front sigs
-Flip mirrors
-New PC'd control housings
-I'll probably ditch the battery bag and put a black band back on there
-K&N Filter
-Jacyl tank lift

I'd also like to get a bigger headlight, but I think I have enough here to last me for now.

On like Donkey Kong! I'll post some pics here as it goes along over the next few months...

Updates 1/11:

Upates! Got the bars and everything else back in from Joe and everything looks awesome. Got the bars last night and had to get them on. Soldering tonight and then on to the rear electrical work later this week. Should have this all done by this weekend barring any issues.

PC'd horn to match new fenders:

New bars on:

Second shot:

Update: 01/21

Got everything back on and she is running awesome! Could not be more excited. I still need to do the tank lift and K&N filter but funds are a little tight again and they will have to wait until later this spring. Most fun I have ever had while working on my bike, great stuff. But for now, here she is!

if anyone in FLA or CAL gets mysterious death threats . its just me in montana getting cabin fever . I cant believe winter is here already. I guess it just gives me more time to save up for stuff I don't need. Counting days till May. Next spring Im riding till my wheels fall off. As soon as the snow is gone i'm riding till i run out of money. Post pics on those mods it will help pass the time.

LOL - The climate here in the front range of Colorado is very different. You can ride year around most of the time with proper leathers. We get lots of 50-60 degree days even in the winter. I usually commute to work on the bike from mid March to mid October, depending on weather.

It varies by year here. Some years we can ride a week out of each month . Last year was brutal and summer (meaning snow gone enough to ride) did not get here till June 21st. This year I'm sorry to say looks like a repeat of last year. I love montana but the years the winter sticks around longer than it needs too get very long on someone who loves to ride. If it wasn't for the great life I have here id blow out of this popsicle stand for warmer climes. Used to snowbird it to tucson and yuma but last few years have been pretty lean. I still love that red color on your bike snoopy. Ride safe.

Yeah, I rode to Red Lodge in mid June and rode Bear Tooth (I have pics on a previous thread). It was practically still winter up there!
