How do you get a 13" rotor to work with stock Caliper....?
Not sure how to make this work, but I know that Howard at Motorcycle Metal sells some killer 13" rotors that he mates up to Brembo Calipers with the use of mounting brackets. I am looking to go this route in the future, just need to save up some more dough!
Howard may have already tried the stock caliper \ 13" rotor combo...give him a call.
Adapting your stock calipers to a 13 inch disk on the Dyna is a tricky thing to do. The brackets shown under RC Components are, Im fairly certain, for the touring models. Due to design quirks that I wont try to explain, the 13 inch adapter that works on the FL will not work on a Dyna fork even though the caliper holes may be the same. The problem is with matching the pads to the swept area of the rotor.
Ive spent some time trying to find a source for an adapter that will work on the Dyna with no luck. I consulted both Performance Machine and RC Components.
If anyone knows a workable solution other than making your own, Id love to hear about it.
If you're just looking for better stopping power why not go with a 6-piston caliper... I don't know anything about the rotor/caliper dynamics but I here it helps...

Bigger is not always better - It's more about the complete system (master cylinder, lines, disc, surface area...) than how many pistons your caliper has
Actually, the size of caliper does make a huge difference. In fact I DO have the PM 6 piston caliper on my stock dyna single disc and it works fine. I still use the stock master cylinder to good effect too.
I was hell-bent on going to the 13 inch rotor AND the 6 piston caliper but, after trying the PM caliper, Im not too hot for the expense and trouble of adapting a 13 inch rotor. The regular 6 piston PM works fine with the stock mounting tabs and stock rotor.
