Can anybody tell me what length shocks are on a 2012 Fat Bob and what other Dyna model shocks would work? Im mostly looking for a change in the looks. Im not really fond of the big shiny chrome stockers. I would like the kind that has the exposed spring. Black would be even better. And one inch shorter even betterer. lol. I weigh about 220 and I dont ride 2 up very often. But before I dump a bunch of cash on performance shocks I figured I would see if there are any cheaper options that wouldnt totally suck. Thanks
Fat Bob has 12 inch shocks, same as a Street Bob. I put the Fat Bob ones on my bike and they feel superior, so you may want to go to the performance shocks to maintain a quality ride.
Yes, they are 12 inchers. Here's something to think about. Stock shocks are all but useless BUT FOR the Fatbob shocks. Stock shocks you probably couldn't give away, but there are people who, because of the covers, do want the Fatbob shocks. If you put them either in the classifieds or on ebay you can probably get 80 to 100 bucks for the set. Thats half way to a decent set of new shocks with the exposed springs. Just remember, if you opt for short 11 inch shocks, the ride will suffer a bit.

Thats good to know. I guess if I really want black coil shocks then I should just suck it up and get some Ricors. I dont want to sacrafice a nice ride just for looks. Thanks for the tip on resale value of the stockers when its time.
I bought a pair of fatbob shocks and installed them on my 2002 superglide, the ride was way better than the stockers, The fatbob shocks are also listed in the HD book as there Premium covered shock as an upgrade, and is listed at 399.00 a pair CDA

Yeah get the Ricor shocks...but do not go lower. get at least 12" or better even 12.5". One look at forum member centerline's bike and you'll understand that fatbobs look great with a taller than stock shock. It all about the shape of the fender that makes it work. Oh, fatbob shocks are 400 bucks new, don't sell for less than around 200.
I went with Ricor, Sport tuned, 12-1/2" length. Bike handles very well with the increased ride height....(see sig pic). I've got plans to lower the fender in the struts to change the look but not the ride...
