Any suggestions for a tool bag for a street bob. Fork mounted or lower frame? Read somewhere the straps mess up the chrome if you mount the bag on the forks. Any pics would be appreciated.
Mounted mine on the lower down tubes. Lined the inside with some metal flashing cut to fit so it would hold shape and used black wire ties over the leather straps to reinforce them.
Since i have a Cali bike, i had to remove the fuel evap canister before i could mount my bag to the bottom on the frame. I use a tie wrap on each side to secure it.
$13 off ebay attached with Velcro straps for the No scratch! Also if you do decide to mount a bag on your forks dont pull a dumbass move like me. My 1st tool bag was larger than the one you see and it rubbed my front fender a tad and gave me a 50 cent piece sized dull mark. I forgot to put a small bit of laminate on my fender for Chaffe protection.

What is entailed with removing that ugly fuel evap canister from my Low Rider?
mines attached to the bars, kind of caddywhompus around the bar and back up under the risers, it keeps it off the headlight. when i got the bike it was down at the voltage regulator but i wanted it up top where i can get into it, i keep stuff in there and like to get into it often (chapstick, few small tools, nite-time optical enhancers, camera sometimes, gum, ****, etc)
it also had the added benifit of cutting some of the wind. i am actually looking for a slightly bigger one.

YES, it can. The trees are aluminum, not chrome, much softer. I had a bag on mine for a short while and it gouged the $hit out of it.
If I ever put another on, it will most likely go in the lower frame/downtube area.
Been there & done that - and have the scratches to prove it [:@]
Luckly I was able to buff most of them out. Now it resides on the lower downtube - atleast until I add the oil cooler.
