Ive decided my next mod to my 2012 Fat Bob is to swap the rear fender to a '10 WG. Ive been reading the threads but Im getting confused on one point. When people are talking about getting the WG struts are they talking about the actuall struts or the covers? I kind of like the look without the covers so if I dont actually need them then I can save some coin. I was under the impression that the actuall strut structures were part of the frame. Any help for a newb? Thanks.
Cool. Your bike is the one that got me thinking I like the looks of no covers. So basically all I need to get is the fender and figure out the lighting?
Ordered my WG fender today. I called Badlands to get a run/stop/turn module and found out its a no go on 2011-2012 Fat Bobs. The tech told me that the dealer has to flash the stock module to tell the signals to act as run stop lights and there was no plug in module sold to do this. Im a little confused, but screw it. For $90 bucks I can get the WG chopped fender edge tail light PN 73416-11 which I think looks pretty nice. I might be wrong but it would seem to me that I could reuse all my stock wiring this way. And then all I would have to do is figure out the wiring for a side mounted plate light. Maybe just tap into the tail light wire? Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
Badlands is right... The 12 Dynas and 11/12 Softails use Harley's new "Body Control Module". The dealer can re-program it to do run/brake/turn. This is how the 12 WG's are set up. Your 10 WG parts still used the old HFSM system, and used a dual filament 1157 bulb along with H-D's brake/turn plug-in controlled to do the three functions. On your 12, you're gonna have to see the dealer to get it working. Good luck, I've heard most dealers are still trying to figure it out...
Well that kinda sucks. I read up on all the WG fender swaps but I either missed it or nobody has done it with a 2012 yet. Not sure if I want the dealer to "maybe" get it right. I wonder if its possible to order the complete wiring I need for a WG. If not I guess I'll be keeping my stock Fat Bob signals and use the WG edge tail light kit.
Yea. I really love the look so I'll figure it out. I might just get a Bullet style liscense plate light and wire it as my brake/run light. Lowbrow and No School Choppers sells the vert side plate mount I'll be using and the plate light matches the stock signals. Im pretty sure I'll be able to use the stock wiring for the signals and just lengthen the tail light wire. Shouldnt be a big deal.

Spank, HD has the brake/tail/turn kit for your 12 FB. I installed it about a month ago on my 12 FB and it cost around $50. You may be able to combine that kit with your 12 fender wiring harness and get a 12 WG tail light.
Let us know how it turns out. I love the look of the FB with the WG fender.
?? Youre saying you got a run/stop/turn module for your 2012 Fat Bob? Because thats what I need. I dont want a seperate tail light. I want to use the signals for everything. I was only going to use the fender edge tail light if I didnt have any other options.
