I bought my Switchback with a Nightstick muffler, which most of you know is manufactured for HD by SuperTrapp. Although it has a catalytic convertor built in (don't get me started on our nanny state), it's basically a straight through SuperTrapp with a closed end cap. Nice sound, but not a lot of volume.
Last night I put on a SuperTrapp open end cap ($25 from Amazon) and took out ten discs. At idle, it sounds similar to the closed cap. Easy throttle gives a nice, rich, but not too loud tone. Get on it, though, and it now has a very serious bark. That's the sound I was looking for! Highly recommend this simple fix for anyone who has a Nightstick.
Can you post a sound bite? I am waiting a little longer to see what comes out. Cobra said maybe by the end of Nov. and Rinehart maybe by the end of the year.
I was at bassani's factory thursday and met with darrel basanni himself as well as his R&D team. He told me they are going to dedicate a complete system to the switchback and it will also work on the WG for those who run the fld boards. The pipes I have in my album are not the completed system, I thought those headers were made for the fld but they aren;t. Those headers are ones they already had. They (my existing set) will work obviously as I'm actually running them, but the new ones will be dedicated. This is verry good news fellow owners. The temp headers on my bike are a little too tight around the oil dipstick area and also your heel may rub on the shields. Bassani is going to correct this with the new system. My bike goes back in a week so they can begin the fabrication.
If you haven't read any of my earlier posts, these pipes add serious power and the performance is day and night from stock. that is so even without me doing squat so far to the engine. If you are planning on changing out exhaust, you really ought to wait until the final version is completed and I will provide you all a review. Once I get the new system, I'm going to do the intake and a power commander. This should be scary good and worth the wait.
When are the bassani's gonna be ready?
got a few quotes from V&H dealers but apparently the o2 plugs wont fit.
good thing I did some research coz I was getting the exhaust shipped to Australia from the US and the last thing I need is a set of pipes that dont fit.
Told a few of the dealers the new model FLD but they insisted that last years dyna pipes would fit
Love the Bassani pipes
bundy bruiser “V&H dealers but apparently the o2 plugs wont fit” That’s not a problem for my choice of a V&H Slip-On made for the FLD. The o2 sensors are in the stock header pipes which stay on the bike.
