After a full day of riding with no problems, stopped for gas restarted, drove home two - three miles and pulled into yard. Heard a loud clicking noise from lower front end transmission side. it was loud enough for my wife to notice it also. (during ride stop and started a couple of times and did not notice it)
Shut the bike off let it fully cool down - cold to the touch restarted it and clicking sound gone. This has happened to me twice - any one else run into this? Bike has just under 2K miles.
tried to find links to this on the site but came up empty.
Some on tried to tell me it was due to the coefficient of internal Eng. components heating and cooling - don't agree
Mine always clicks for a while after i shut it down (its caused by the above reasons)... Does your click after each shutdown? Or is it dead silent? If this is something above and beyond the normal clicking after shutting down, it may be something different.
But intermitten problems are always fun to diagnose, especially over the internet.
New bikes, yours under 2k, will make clicking sound while cooling down. Expansion/contraction.
Yes my bike makes a lot of clicking noises when it cools down but this is different - The noise i am concerned about is when it running after a Eng is started when hot.
It's a more of a Knocking coming from the lower front end at the transmission side (hopefully this helps), and if i shut it down and the motor cools completely. I can re-start and run without the knocking noise.
strange it does not happen all the time, (first time about a month ago and then again yesterday)

Update: Took the advise of Garyk,
Dropped the bike off at the dealer, Service Dept manager listed to it and said it sounds like my chain tensor had failed - would know more when the got into it.
SO holding on waiting for the call and wondering what this is going to cost me, Bike went out of warranty in August. will keep you all posted as thing evolve.
Dropped the bike off at the dealer for them to look at and put up for winter storage, Service writer Listened to it and said it sounds like my chain tensor had failed - he stated something is wrong
After no call back, I called and questioned the service Manager in December and he stated the mechanic checked it out and nothing wrong with the bike - since nothing wrong the decided not to contact me even informed me (They even took it for long ride and everything is normal).
Picked the bike up from winter storage last week and the knocking was still there even enough for other riders with me to notice. Bike has just over 2K in miles and no longer under warranty
Immediately made an appointment with local independent - He Just called me and informed me / found the problem -- Weak/Poor spring on Rotor Assembly part number 40356-07.
