the IPB is most likely gonna be your problem, if it sounds like roller skates in neutral, but sounds like grinding in gear its definitely your IPB and/or stator...
Yes I have when I installed forward controls .. of course that was about 55000 miles ago. I also had the primary off last weekend and every thing checks out ok.
Do we have a BINGO? Start your bike up...put it in gear...put it back in neutral....listen....while running and in neutral listen some more, and let the clutch out..... any thing sound different?
the IPB will sound like metal roller skates on a sidewalk when you do this simple test. Mine did.... and '06 DYNAS have a history of that problem.
Well DAMN!! I just did this and sure enough....sounds like metal grinding....Looks like I'm of to buy the inner primary bearing......
this is why I love this site....lots of folks helping others....
I will keep you guys posted and let you know if it fixes the problem.
Taking the outer primary off will most likely not reveal an IPB issue. If you remove the inner primary and roller bearing start falling or not to the floor then you know for sure if the bearing is good or bad. If you have 55K on a replaced OEM IP bearing, you are doing better than most of us.
Well I just dropped my bike off at the dealer. Only because I found the IPB thread on here. Service guy says he can get Harley to pay for all parts and labor. I will keep you posted.
Look into a replacement by Baker Drivetrain. It's a different design and will last longer.
There's more to it than that...Although the Baker bearing is a good repair, pritty much "Bullet proof" there are underlying problems with the trans. case and inner primary on some of the'06 DYNAS.
Ya need to know the repair history to deternine your coarse of action.
Q: Are you the origional owner?....Is so...
Q: Is the delership where you bought it near?
let's start there. If yes to both... I may have some info to share...I just had mine done Yesterday...and let me tell ya... I've got a serious case of Perma-grin! If you know khat I mean....

I am the original owner. But the dealer that I dropped it off to is not the one that i bought it at. It is the dealer that i buy all my parts from and I have had it serviced there multiple times. I know exactly what you mean I just wish that i had the service bulletin to show them . I guess I can show them to the IPB thread.
