Default Is a lift necessary?

Hello all, I have seen quite a few posts about lifts and I was just wondering if that is something that is necessary for routine maintenance or is it used more for when you are doing mods? I dont pick up my bike till March and this is my first Harley, so I am not sure if a lift is needed for things such as oil change, etc. Thanks for the info.

For routine stuff you don't have to , But it make life easy and the cost isn't all that.

I do the oil change on the jiffy stand as recommended for my fatbob. But have used my lift for different mods, wheel changing and removing front end etc.

Yes, it is an aid for any project. The Harbor Freight High Lift is a great value. It will allow for sitting on a mechanics stool and having everything at eye level. Great for cleaning the rims also.

Here's the Ultra up for the 5K service.

The run around $169 but there is always 20% off coupons and store sales.

Laying on your back will get you in touch with you bike. Lifts are for geezers and I am proud to be one...

I bought one. The jack type. Best 50 bucks I spent on the bike. And I keep the bike up off the ground all winter with it. It helps make fluid changes a snap. Buy one. You won't regret it

You really do not need a lift for engine oil, primary or transmission. Its tight but to me it just gets in the way. However for other stuff like checking fall away or taking off a wheel or such you will need it. Depends on what you plan on doing. I have needed mine (cheapy Harbor Freight on sale for $59.00) works fine. Check my album on what I have done. My bike is not longer under warranty and I do everything to it.

I had one and gave it to a guy that I sold a bike to. It's a nice to have thing, but it's cheaper to make friends with someone else who already has one!
