Default removing lights and rear fender

Who out there has pulled the taillights and rear fender off a new model wideglide? I can not for the life of me get the tail lights off. Do I pull the wire all the way out from the wiring harness or is there a way to disconnect it at the light? nothing seems obvious at this point.

I had mine off I have the docking hardware on mine but its all the same.
I cut my wires and made connections for mine so if I have to remove again it will be a snap.
you do have to disconnect from harness also.

Take the seat off, disconnect the connectors in the battery box, and then snake them through the fender. You'll probably need to lift the bike but others have done it without a lift.

I am taking off the sissy bar and pulling the fender to paint it. I have a feeling this will be easier if I take the wire off. I was hoping I wouldn't have to snake the wire all the way back to the wiring harness when I was done.
