I'd like to replace the stock FXDC headlight with a longer, chrome version.
I see many types of stretched headlamps, priced from low $$ to mid $$$.
Can someone recommend some brands, websites. Pics of bikes are really welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Mike
If your looking for like an adjure bullet style light there is a vendor on ebay named snappylights that sells new and for about half the cost of new seconds with small flaws in them you would probably never notice. I bought a flamed chrome 7" adjure bullet from them for $125 and I am really happy with it and I put a 7" LED lamp in it. The sell 5 3/4 inch and 7 inch as well as some others so they got a pretty good selection and I was pleased with delivery time, packaging, and price.
I am going to assume since you said its a stock FXDC light you have a 5 3/4 so as long as you get a 5 3/4 inch housing yes. You should be able to just disassemble your stock light parts and transfer them directly into the new bucket. The only thing you normally have to modify when changing housings is the wiring which you either have to carefully pull apart the stock plug and remove the wires and then put them into the new housing or cut them and splice them into a new plug. The adjure ones come with a generic wiring plug for H4 in case you need to cut and splice. Sounds complicated but its actually really easy, just make sure to try and keep your splice section inside of the housing so it has less chance of getting wet.
A lot of people on this forum recommended Eastern Performance. I choose to give them a try and am very happy. I went with the Cyclone. Its a good light. Once I installed a Silverstar bulb, it was actually a pretty good light thrower as well. Under a hundred bucks.
Let's see a side profile of you bike. In this pics, we can see the headlight, but lets see what it looks like on the bike. I'm looking for something kinda like that.
