ill take my 06LR over a softy any day they both have there pluses but the dyna just fits my riding style. thats what it realy comes down to. i have riden both i dont like the buzz at high speed of the ST it makes my feet itch on long rides mainly at speeds above 75mph. the only thing i cant stand about the dyna is the key location it sucks. and the oil temp seams a littel high for my liking.
Why dont you rent one of each and decide that way, its a very big investment your about to make and if you ride both youll be able to make an informed decision. I myself have owned a Dyna and can tell you that it is a great all around bike. Plenty of power, handles great and if you want you can throw on a set of bags and go touring. Good luck and youll probably be happy with either one, there both great machines.
This question as well as similar questions come up quite often comparing different model dynas to different model softails....thing is, of course, if you post in the dyna forum, the majority are going to say "dyna"...and if you post in the softail section, visa versa...right???
This really isn't something that you can post on a message board..any message board and get a better idea after than you did before. I agree with the previous post. Rent a couple and buy the one you like.
I still stand by my initial post...dyna riders get more punani
