6 Speed whines on decel in 5th??

Whatever the stealer put in at the 1000 mile service. If he even bothered[>:] She has 1900 on her now.
I was thinking about changing it since it clunks pretty darn loud when shifting.
I was studying the oil links earlier. Some guys say that helps with the shifting.
The whining in only in 5th, it's pretty loud for me to be able to hear it over my pipes with a helmet on.
Maybe the dealer put 20-50 in it instead of gear oil???

mine does too..not necessarily on decel..but definitely 5th...the 1st and 5th are straight gears, as opposed to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, which are diagonal. I don't hear it unless I have a windshield on...and I was concerned when I first heard it..but I've heard enough people say it's normal (including my dealer), so it doesn't bother me anymore.

Well that explains it!!
I just got this windshield last week. I think I should have gotten the taller one. Darn thinks are expensive, it's the quick-detach one.

Guys try a quart of Redline Shockproof Heavy gear oil from www.myoilshop.com in your trans. You won't go back to the HD lubes anymore.

You bet.......very smooth compared to the HD trans lube. You can't go wrong for less than $10. SInce you are in Ca. (so is Redline) you can probably get it locally.......check it out at www.redlineoil.com

I went ahead and ordered a quart from myoilshop.com It was easier since I have to work all week and the search turned one up 44 miles away. It would have been a nice ride on the bike but wouldn't have time until this weekend and who knows what the weather will be like. It's a long ride in a cage for a quart of oil.
