Default Front judders when braking?

I have a 2006 Dyna fxd35, I have recently noticed that when I brake for the first half a dozen times the front end really judders?
Then it seems to disapear ?
It's only done about 6000 miles.
Any ideas?
Someone has mentioned that there was a recall to fit a thicker washer under the main nut in the middle of the triple tree, anyone else heard of this?
Thanks

there was a problem with that year with a spacer in the neck
they also increased the recommended torque on the nut

If you have a jack lift up the bike and strap it down real good
then grap hold of the front wheel and lift it up and press it down

if there is movement that way in the neck and it sort of pops then you have a problem in the neck.

Also if the wheel is straight ahead and you can tap it real lightly and it flops to the side you may only have to tighten down the tension. and this test works best with the bike level on the lift and with the clutch cable unhooked from the handle bars

Check your front tire for any abnormal wear and correct recommended tire pressure. Sometimes the front brake pads while develop a little hum or something when they are pressed against the disc/rotor vent holes.

My road glide rotors warped right away. Maybe that's it. Is it a shimmy like that?

When it was time for me to change my front tire I could tell that using the front break would cause a little stutter.

Actually all the suggested remedies or causes are valid in this thread.

The strange thing is it only happens when I first go for a ride, its as though when the brake is warm it stops?
I have fitted Lyndall pads and the rest is stock, the first time I use the front brake it really judders, then gets less noticable with each application of the brake then after I have used the brake about a dozen times the judder disapears?

Maybe when you changed the pads you got air in the lines.

Default Front Brake

Live in a high humidity area ? Could just be damp pads...

No air in the line and it's not that humid here ?
It's as if it goes away once the pads or disc gets a bit warm?

I put Lyndall pads on the last time I changed my break pads. Not the gold, but the others. I cannot remember the model # or name.

I like that they do not dust up the wheels, but they are not my favorite break pad for stopping. I am finding that out. I don't know what I will put in next, but it will not be Harley labeled break pads or Lyndall break pads.

I hope you figure it out. Your front breaks are very important, and I'd had to see them fail instead of working during a ride. Good luck to you.
