Default Battery Post Connection Problem

Bought a Drag Specialties battery to replace OE unit. Ran into problem with post connection. No steel threads in the new batt. Have not run into this before. Fix? Thanks

There should be some square nuts to fit inside the posts.

Did some checking. There is supposed to be a post kit included in the box....it was not. Bought the batt a few months back as a 'just in case' purchase. Never thought about the kit missing. Batt in the box and on the shelf until Sunday. Will figure something out.

I haven't had to remove my battery yet. Check to see if the stock battery is threaded or the nut are just stuck on the posts.

Used some spring-nuts I had from the olden-days when I was a working man. Pulled the springs off and cut-down the nut bodies to fit inside the battery post entrances. Drilled out the threads for use as front spacers and tapped the inner nuts to fit the attaching bolts. Slathered posts with vasoline the used Blue thread-locker on bolts. Good to go.

btw: stock Harley battery has 'made' posts with steel-threaded nuts in the lead post attachment. Could possibly remove those from the circular battery post with heat because I believe they are soldered on, but an iffy thing at best.
