Question Battery Help... FML

Its Sunday and I didn't want to wait on the local Indy shop to open on Tuesday to get a new battery so I went to Napa and got a battery with a description for my exact bike. I get home and I can't get it to work. Now I'm worried Napa won't let me return it because I had to put the acid in it and etc. Anyone experience this before?

The stock positive cable won't reach or bend to fit flush against the terminal. The old battery terminal is parallel with the side of the battery. The Napa battery has a 1/2 inch space between the side and the terminal causing fitment issues.... Any help is appreciated...

Napa battery - notice the gap from battery wall to terminal.

Stock battery - notice the terminal and the battery wall.

Take the screw out of the battery posts, then take the square nuts that are inside the post out and turn them so the holes of the nut face upwards and thread the screw in from the top hole.

Kosh,

if only it was that easy... I've literally tried all the combinations. The power cable won't reach the top.

The battery I got from Batteries Plus came with brass spacers. Perhaps they sell them separately?
