Nice improvement with the 180 over the 160. I am very interested in stepping up when my original tire is finished on my '11 Street Bob. In looking at the information on the HD Wide Tire Kit you provided the link for, it looks like it comes with the 180 Dunlop and I would rather go with a different brand. Besides the tire itself in the kit, what specifically was provided that would be needed if I picked up the tire elsewhere? From looking at the instructions sheet for the kit, it looks like there are no changes to the hub or anything else and just a need to cleanup the wiring under the fender. My plans are to shift the turn signals to the license plate area so my guess is this would become a non-issue for me.

Dan,
I got the wide tire kit since it was a little cheaper than just getting the tire itself. Sound weird but that's how it worked out. I didn't use anything in the kit but the tire. When I removed the brake light I ran all the wires between the fender and rear struts so I have no wires under the fender at all. I had to cut the little tabs off the end of the stock inner strut braces that hold the wires in place.
I have the same bike and I really like the look of the changes you made. How would you compare the handling of the wide tire vs the original? Also, what bars are those and how would you compare the way they handle? Mine is pretty much stock and yours are some of the best looking changes I've seen for that color combination. Thanks

don't know about the handling of the new tire. My girlfriend rides the bike now and we only rode from the shop to home. About 10 miles. As for the bars they were given to me by a friend. Don;t know what make they are but they feel real good. The bars keep your arms straighter and up more than stock.

Michelin make the Scorcher 31 in a 180...same tire that comes stock on the 2012 Wide Glide. Thats what I'm getting when its time. As far as the other stuff need most say nothing. If my turn signal wires are rubbing the whole inside of the finder will be rubbing. Just look under your fender and decide if you think it's needed.

Thanks for the compliments.
I did the upgrade on my fxdc. I am not a small guy and I feel like it sticks better when hitting turns hard. Might be in my head but I think it rides smoother.
