what is a Street Bob new but previous years worth at DLR?
-2010 with a RED TAG of $13254 but its RED so that is $400 or so more than Vivid Black. Included Security/Freight/Setup is around $1100.
-2011 Street Bob Vivid-Black price is $13919 with included Security/Freight of $585. Has a $250 dealer transfer which I presume means transfer from another dealer. Is this common to charge $250 transfer?
-2011 Wide Glide (Yellow with flames) and its a demo. Asking $16114. Also Dealer Transfer.
These are new bikes but previous years models. Not sure why a dealer would get a bike transfer if they do nto have anyone to buy it but maybe they do not want a floor empty of DYNAs.
Anyway you can see the 2011 Street Bob above costs only $650ish more than the 2010 Street Bob. Seem strange to me because its a year newer model. Can get a 2012 for the price of $13700ish without the $250 dealer transfer.
Here is my question to you guys...what would you pay or have paid for a 1 or 2 year old model on the dealers floor but brand new?
I have all but decided to abandon buying a used bike without seeing it and paying $700something to transfer it. Since its new...I gotta see it iffn I am gonna send $10K to someone a long ways off. Attorney fees can get expensive LOL.
But I am not opposed to buying a 2012 SB in March but wondering what these bikes on the dealer floor are worth in the winter time? Coulda buy it and store til spring or wait til March/April and take tax money and put down a larger % and price will not be THAT much different from those prices above.
Your thoughts?
As stated in my AD...this dealer has a 2010 Bob and 2011 Bob on their sales floor. I am wanting to know what number I can work with this time of the year. Of course it depends on their mood LOL.
I just got hit with nearly $8k of hospital bills so this is another darn payment but what can ya say. I still am gonna get a bike as I am not getting any younger so might as well get one for my BD.
Bibber...this is exactly what I am looking for. And you got it in Oct with still some riding time left. Guess dealer wanted to get this off their floor. This one is the same and I guess you got the Red Hot Sunglo SB which looks good to me.
My only druthers is if I got a 2010 and after a couple years with $5k miles I wanted to trade it in on say a Road King...they would not give me much because 2 years from now it will be a 2014 bike and will be 4 years old or 5 depending when dealer had the bike on their floor. So paying too much for a old-new stock will hit ya if you want to sell it.
Regardless this 2010 Red Hot Sunglo sits good on their floor. Got pics of yours just for gwaking? Yeah I know black is faster but what the heck...you can make it faster.
Dealer asked me if I had my motorcycle license and said to come take a ride to decide what ya want. I am initially interested in a SB and WG...maybe a SuperG too. Problem is you glean too much info from the forums and realize all bikes have some disadvantage. for example:
WG has narrow front tire, that good or bad?
SB is mostly black...so you do not have lots of choice.
SG has ample bling to make it worth the price.
Still thinking on this. Oh yeah I forgot someone pointed out that the newer 2012 bikes come with a tach or something...not seen on 2011 and prior years.
Again for me I do not mind buying in Jan/Feb and get a better deal. 2 months early makes no difference to me as I can hold for 2 months. And this time of the year, the recreation industry is lacking sales so I do not mind taking advantage of that.
Can't you just go to the dealer, sit on a couple of those 2011 models and make an offer?
A couple hundred clams either way isn't going to bring on doom and gloom.
For reference, I bought a 2011 SuperGlide in September of 2011.
The AZ dealer took $1800 off the sticker price of $12,999.00.
At any rate.....good luck to you

NEVER walk into a dealer and let them know you have to have THAT HD. Kind of hee and haw them but show passing interest across several scooters, even though you may not be interested in those particular motorcycles.
CASH is KING. I have used this technique to purchase cars and motorcycles. It works! I sit down with the salesman and lay my checkbook on his desk. I tell him he has one chance to meet or beat the price in my head for his vehicle (DO NOT let him know the number!). His number must be inclusive of ALL charges; it will be the number I put on the check if he beats my number. If he can't beat the number I have in mind, I give him my phone number and tell him to call me if he wants to try again. But, I walk out. As I said cash is king and cash doesn't negotiate dealer add ons. And most importantly, not a single dealer in this country likes to have CASH walk out the door! Dealers love cash and hate cash. Cash is transferred quickly and requires little paperwork. But, dealers like credit as well because they make a percentage on doing the paperwork and generally a percentage when the paper is sold on the secondary market. But, that takes time and they don't see the money in their account for a while.
Dealer transfer is the dealer doing the DMV paperwork for you; titling and registration. All BS and nearly all profit for the dealer. Tell the dealer you will do your own transfer at DMV and to simply provide you with the "Bill of Lading" with the "Bill of Sale". 2 documents they can not charge you for. The "Bill of Lading" is a legal document that indicates the transfer of real property which has not been titled.
Dealer setup. If its on the show room floor, not much you can do about it. But, if it is inbound from MoCo and crated, and you are mechanically inclined, tell dealer to leave it crated and when you get it home assemble a few easy things and check fluids yourself. This is another huge dealer profit center. Yes, you will need a pickup and have the dealer forklift the crate into the bed; once again the free forklift use must be in the agreement. But, remember, if the scooter is assembled, all dealer fees and any other tack on profit centers are in the secret number in your head which you tell the salesman to beat.
Most states have a floor tax due at the end of each month. Dealers don't like for scooters to sit around forever. Unfortunately, there are so few models and colors available, when you find the ONE you want, you eagerness and "got to have it" syndrome take over and you're likely to pay top dollar regardless how long that scooter has been sitting on the floor if the dealer is aware of your feelings.
The most important thing to remember is to mask and hide your eagerness. Don't let the salesman know THAT scooter is the ride of your dreams!
Good luck!
